"Spray booths aren't just simple metal boxes where refinishing goes on. The best ones feature the kind of sophisticated technology even a NASA scientist could appreciate." Charlie Barone

Today's spray booths are ever evolving, technologically advanced, sophisticated pieces of equipment capable of adapting to changing environmental standards with respect to the emission of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and particulate matter. These VOCs have been identified to be a contributor to the deterioration of the Earth's atmosphere.

The biggest challenge facing today's spray booth manufacturers is the advent of waterborne paint, which contains little in the way of VOCs. Although waterborne paint is much healthier for the environment, it poses problems for spray booth users because it is slow to dry.

Spray-tech has addressed this challenge by implementing a wide range of 80% recirculating heated air make-up systems along with the use of QADs™.

These systems effectively increase vapor pressure (rate of evaporation) by:

  1. Increasing the velocity of air moving over the vehicle's surface.
  2. Increasing the amount of air moving over the vehicle's surface.
  3. Giving the user the ability to direct the moving air.
  4. Reducing the relative humidity by heating the air, effectively evaporating the water.
